In September 1980, Stephen Jones opened the doors to his first salon in the store PX in Covent Garden, London. From the very beginning, Stephen carved a niche for himself with stylish, inventive and whimsical creations. His reputation and clientele increased rapidly, and he was invited to represent Britain in fashion shows in New York, Montreal, Helsinki and Tokyo, bringing Millinery into the Modern Fashion World.
In 1984, he became the first British milliner to work in Paris designing hats für Jean-Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler and Comme des Garcons.
