Alexander Lee McQueen is one of the most accomplished, influential and respected fashion designers working today. His work has been celebrated in Britain as well as internationally, winning him British Designer of the Year four times and International Designer of the Year by The Council of Fashion Designer's of America among others. In October 1996 McQueen was appointed Chief Designer at the French Haute Couture House Givenchy where he worked until March 2001. Since 2000 Gucci Group has owned 51% of the company. This has enabled McQueen to expand into menswear and eyewear and effectively become an international luxury label, launching a new fragrance 'Kingdom' and opening flagship stores in New York, London and Milan.
