Bora Aksu was born in Ismir, Turky in 1969. After he received his BA Honours in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins, he enrolled on an MA course at the same college. The 2002 MA graduation show marked a major turning point for Aksu. It not only received a very positive response from the press and pieces from it were bought by Dolce and Gabbana but it also won him the Top Shop New Generation Award and secured him a sponsorship award to start his own label. Aksu's off-schedule Autumn/Winter 2003 debut show took place during London Fashion Week in February 2003.
