In 1993, after a training in Fashion & Clothing at St. Godelieve in Antwerp, Erik Verdonck graduated from the fashion department at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. From 1992 to 1993 he worked for Dries Van Noten after which he designed collections for several labels such as Mer du Nord and La Gaviotta. In 1996 Erik opened his own chip shop, "Frituur Erik", something of an anti-fashion statement. During this period he continued his design work for several labels. He was Ann Demeulemeester’s production-assistant in 2000 and designed his first collection for autumn/winter 2002-2003.
His concept is new. He designs one collection a year mostly comprised of hand-made knitwear.
