Michiel Keuper (1970, Doetinchem, NL) and Francisco van Benthum (1972, Boxmeer, NL) collaborated under the name KEUPR/van BENTM from 1996 until 2001. Both received their artistic training at the Fashion Department of the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem), but graduated at different times.
After graduating, Van Benthum worked briefly in London. On his return to Holland, he shared a studio with Keuper who in the mean time had established himself as an independent designer. Keuper concentrated on women’s wear, while Van Benthum specialized in couture for men. Their separate aesthetic concepts harmonised surprisingly well and the designers decided to present their collections together under a single label.
