Sissi Farassat came from Teheran to Vienna in 1978. Since 1991, she is working as a freelance photographer and attended the Salzburg summer academy as well as the School for artistic photography, Vienna. In 1994, Sissi Farrassat was awarded an internship in Paris from the Federal Ministry of Science; in 1998 she received the funding award for up-and coming designers from the Art Department of the Federal Chancellory.
Since 1996, her works have featured in various exhibitions as well as publications, e.g. Self Service, Ahead and ZOO or the catalogue Strip. 1998 was the birthyear of a limited quarterly publication "Sioseh", a special-format (7,5 x 10,5 cm) photo magazine printed in a limited edition of 33 issues.
