Veronique Branquinho, born in Belgium, graduates in 1995 from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In October 1997, after working for several labels (Miu-Miu), she presents her first collection in a Paris art gallery. This immediately attracts the attention of both the public and the press.
Together with Raf Simons she designs the summer 1999 and winter 1999/2000 collections for the Italian label Ruffo Research, which are shown during the Milan fashion week.
Branquinho’s complex and layered designs are characterised by contrasting elements such as vulnerability and strength, sensuality and innocence, refinement and rationality.
