Aimee McWilliams graduated from Central Saint Martins College MA Womenswear Fashion Design course in 2003. Her collection was called Sub Couture and won the L’Oreal total look award. The label Aimee McWilliams was launched in March 04 with her debut Autumn/Winter collection and was shown at London Fashion Week and Paris Prêt-à-Porter, Feb/March 05. Her designs have been featured in Style Monte Carlo, Oyster, International Textiles, Icon, Croma and W magazine. Editorials include Italian Vogue, ES Magazine, Tank, BLVD and Icon among others.
McWilliams worked as a stylist and art-director on Style Monte Carlo Magazine before becoming an assistant designer to Rafael Lopez. She has worked for Victoria's Secret, New York, designing a collection of garments commissioned by Charlotte Stockdale to finale a press show.
She also works as a fashion Illustrator and contracts include private commissions for Harvey Nichols and a chain of high-end hotels.
The designs of her collections are a direct result of the diverse areas of her work. She has described her unique design philosophy as “A visualisation of shapes and garments formed from the build up of abstract images and illustrations.”
