Michel Mallard is creative director and founder of Michel Mallard Studio, his artistic direction and visual communication studio which he founded 2001 in Paris. The office carries out several activities in these two fields such as organising and curating exhibitions, consulting, visual creation, editorial direction, design and artistic collaborations. As creative director and consultant Mallard has changed the face of various magazines such as L’Autre Journal, Biba, Benetton’s Colors, Jalouse, Marie-Claire Japan, Blast, L’Officiel and most recently Vogue Hommes International. In addition, he has been the artistic director for various photography books for Schirmer/Mosel and Steidl (Candida Höfer, Thomas Ruff, Jean-Baptiste Mondino,etc.). In the international exhibition field Michel Mallard Studio has been responsible for the organisation and commissioning of the visual art exhibitions at the annual Festival International de Mode et de Photographie in Hyères, France. Mallard has been in charge of the young photographers’ competition for the past seven years. Recently, his involvement with Hyères has led to a number of collaborations with various international art institutions such as the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean in Luxembourg, the Centre National de la Photographie in Paris, The Photographers’ Gallery in London and Unit F in Vienna.
