HELMUT LANG PARIS
Helmut Lang opens a freestanding shop in Paris, located at 219, rue Saint-Honoré 75001 Paris at the corner of rue d'Alger. The shop opens for customers during Paris Fashion Week on October 10, following an opening event on October 9, 2003.
Two large black monolithic boxes flank a concrete staircase leading to the upper level. The boxes appear to go through the floor, adjoining both levels and creating a double-height space. An LED installation by artist Jenny Holzer is set into the railing of the staircase.
In addition, works by Louise Bourgeois, Lang's friend and frequent collaborator, will be shown in a regularly rotating installation. Pieces by Jean Prouvé are also implemented in the store.
